Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day

 

This one-day, outdoor festival will feature “green” vendors, presentations, concessions, new kids’ activities and live entertainment.  In addition, guests will enjoy the Heard’s hiking trails, “Live Animals of the World” exhibit, butterfly garden, and have one last chance to see the indoor “Treasures from The Earth:  Diamonds, Gold and Dinos” before it leaves. Bring recyclable products to support the Heard’s electronics recycling program.  

 

McKinney residents

will enjoy free admission to the museum and to this event for the day! Please provide driver's license or recent water bill as proof of residency.

Activities

Kids’ activities will include inflatable slide, petting zoo, “green” craft project, mobile dairy, Eco-Shopping Game, plus much more!

Live stage entertainment on The Heard’s Outdoor Amphitheatre Stage will include live animal presentations, musicians, presentation of the city’s Arbor Day Poster contest winner, and other presentations on how to “live green.”  Currently scheduled:

  • McKinney Community Band Performance
  • Blackland Prairie Raptor Group – Live Raptor Show
  • Live Animal Presentations by Heard Staff
  • Presentation of the City of McKinney Arbor Day Photo Contest Winner
