Much of the Heard Wildlife Sanctuary is a restored area of the Blackland Prairie. Less than 1% remains, making this tallgrass prairie the most endangered ecosystem in North America! The rich soil that supports this habitat is made up of materials that date back to inland sea that covered this part of Texas during the Cretaceous period. Please help us conserve this endangered Blackland Prairie habitat when you come to see Dinosaurs Live! by staying on the trails and placing trash in bins. Please click here and read this page before visiting. The Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary is a small, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and we appreciate your support of our mission to bring nature and people together!
