Heard After Hours: Lunar Phases & More

Saturday, November 9, 2019 - 6:30pm to 9:30pm register

Why does the moon disappear?  Does it really turn blue?  Can a cow jump over it?  Who’s “the man in the moon”?  From time immemorial humans have been enthralled by this natural nightlight that appears, changes position and shape, and disappears, all within the space of a month.

Join us for Heard After Hours: Lunar Phases & More, as we use the Magic Planet to explore the above questions and more. The evening will also feature a telescope station, an open exhibit hall, and access to parts of our private 289-acre wildlife sanctuary.

$19/non-member; $16/Heard Museum Members* (Age 3 years through adult). Pre-registration is required for this event. Click here to register.

Closed toed shoes, long pants, and bug spray are recommended. Participants will be outdoors for at least an hour. Children ages 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Heard After Hours:  Extra-Terrestrial Geology

Saturday, January 4, 2019 - 6:30pm to 9:30pm  register

Our Earth is shaped by many geological processes, but what about the other planets in our Solar System?  Do they have earthquakes and volcanoes, too? What about mountains and valleys?

During Heard After Hours: Extra-Terrestrial Geology, we’ll use the Magic Planet to compare and contrast the geology of the Earth with the geology of other planets in our Solar System.

*Please note that the reciprocal admission agreement (click here for guidelines) that the Heard has with Perot Museum, Fort Worth Museum of Nature & Science and ASTC Passport Program participants does not apply to education programs or special events.
