With the cooperation of the Collin County Commissioners’ Court, The Heard received a grant of $130,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency to construct a boardwalk-trail through The Heard wetlands. In addition, the Collin County Open Spaces Program provided a $33,000 matching grant for trail signage, and the City of McKinney became a supporting member of The Heard.
