Heard Event

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Event Date: March 5, 2022
Start Time: 10:00 am
End Time: 4:00 pm

Did you know that Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary’s founder, Bessie Heard, was instrumental in helping to form a McKinney chapter of the American Red Cross during World War and served as a “Gray Lady” with that chapter?

On March 5, during Spring Break at the Heard, we’ll roll up our sleeve sand help save lives! We will proudly partner with the American Red Cross. The Red Cross has over 135 years of experience providing humanitarian aid–including more than 75 years of supplying blood to those in need. Schedule Your Blood Donation Here

The American Red Cross is facing a national blood crisis – its worst blood shortage in over a decade, posing a concerning risk to patient care. But you can help! An estimated 38 percent of Americans are eligible to give blood or platelets, but of those, less than 10 percent actually donate each year. If you are healthy and eligible, please come out to donate. Most donations take about an hour, so book your appointment, roll up your sleeve and become a part of the
lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.

Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country. We are very excited about the drive and I hope you are too. Thanks for your consideration!
