    These story times are designed primarily for young children and will introduce a different nature-themed book each week. During most of the story times, a puppet, live animal or enrichment items will be included to enhance the experience. These programs should last approximately 30-45 minutes depending on the book covered. Watch this page for information about stories to be offered.

  • Third Saturday Nature Talks

  • Heard After Hours: Nighttime Navigation

    Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

    Please join us as we use The Magic Planet to explore the various means of nighttime navigation.  After our presentation, you’ll have the opportunity to navigate your way to various checkpoints throughout our forests and prairies. And, by practicing stealth tactics such as “quiet talking” and “sneaky walking,” there’s no telling which of our nocturnal residents you may see or hear!  The exhibit hall will be open for those who prefer to remain indoors. Long-pants and closed-toed shoes highly recommended. Ages 18+

    $19/non-member; $16/Heard Museum Members*. Pre-registration is required. Click here to register.

  • Heard Art & Science Workshops: Nature Journaling Workshop

    Learn new ways of observing nature and take time out to truly see what is around you. Maribeth Jagger will demonstrate technique and guide participants through hands-on exercises using the museum and sanctuary as inspiration. Participants will learn tools to translate what they see to the pages of their sketchbook.  No prior drawing experience is needed. Pre-registration required by November 11.
