Fall mini camps at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary offer a unique opportunity for kids to explore the great outdoors during the break.
These mini camps are designed to provide children with an engaging and educational experience, all while having fun! With a variety of activities to choose from kids are sure to have a blast while learning about the world around them.
Each mini-camp explores a different topic and includes time outdoors, weather permitting. Preregistration required. Participants should dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven gravel. Participants should also bring water in a carrier. Pre-registration is required.
Ages 3-11*
October 12-13; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Join us for an amazing time learning about insects and arthropods! We will go through the different groups of “bugs”, meet some creepy crawlies, and hike our trails to see what insects the fall brings.
Campers will explore the world of paleontology through dino-themed crafts and digs. They’ll enjoy an exclusive guided trail along our Dinosaurs Live! Exhibit and meet a scaly critter!

(Minimum age 3 years on September 1, 2026)
You must register your child in the appropriate class, based on their age on September 1, 2026. If your child is registered in the incorrect age group, the registration will be canceled. Please ensure you register your child in the correct age groups, as camps will become full quickly, and we will be unable to switch your child into the correct age group.
Non-member: $40 per person
Heard member: $35 per person
Please note that all participating children must be fully potty-trained and able to use the restroom without adult aid. Additionally, all participating children must be able to walk with the class group for a minimum of 20-minute periods at a time.
Deadline for 100% refund (minus a $20 admin fee) – October 2nd
Deadline for a 50% refund (minus a $20 admin fee) – October 7th
No refunds after this date
Any cancellation after the October 7th deadline will be charged a $20 admin fee. Camps cannot be rescheduled or credited for future use.
