While visiting the exhibit hall, make sure to spend time with our Magic Planet, a 4-ft interactive globe which operates via touch-screen. With just a touch, you might choose to transform the Earth into Jupiter, explore the boundaries of tectonic plates, see our Earth at night, and so much more!

Magic Planet-oids

Join us on the weekends this summer for astronomy-themed "Magic Planet-oids."  These are short presentations in our Magic Planet theater which will focus on recent space news and provide excitement and guidance for what to expect in the night sky. 

Schedule: Saturdays at 10:30, 11:20, and 12:30; Sundays at 2:30 and 3:30

  • June 15 & 16 - The Full Moon
  • June 22 & 23 - Summer Solstice and Mercury
  • June 29 & 30 - The Milky Way and Beyond
  • July 6 & 7 - Journey Through the Solar System
  • July 13 - Earth's Companion: The Moon (Saturday only)
  • July 21 - Earth's Companion: The Moon (Sunday only)
  • July 27 & 28 - Earth's Movements: Kinesthetic Astronomy
  • August 3 & 4 - Space News! What new in the Universe?
  • August 10& 11 - The Perseid Meteor Shower

Although this exhibit closes for fieldtrips and parties, it is usually available to members and general admission guests until 3:00pm on the weekends. Please refer to this page for schedule exceptions.
