Winter mini camps at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary offer a unique opportunity for kids to explore the great outdoors during the winter break.
These mini camps are designed to provide children with an engaging and educational experience, all while having fun! With a variety of activities to choose from kids are sure to have a blast while learning about the world around them.
Each mini-camp explores a different topic and includes time outdoors, weather permitting. Preregistration required. Participants should dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven gravel. Participants should also bring water in a carrier. Pre-registration is required.

December 29 & 30; 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

How do animals survive in the winter? Campers will investigate the amazing ways animals adapt to winter. Through hands-on activities and animal encounters, campers will uncover strategies like hibernation, migration, and camouflage that help wildlife survive the coldest months of the year.
Bundle up and join us for a winter day of discovery! In this one-day camp, we will explore the warm and wonderful world of mammals. Through hands-on activities and animal encounters campers will learn how furry friends stay cozy in the cold, from thick fur and fat to clever winter behaviors.

Non-member: $35 per person
Heard member: $30 per person
Please note that all participating children must be fully potty-trained and able to use the restroom without adult aid.
